The BassTactix Alabama state championship will be held at Coosa Landing from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. BassTactix Alabama is a Christian-based  501 C3 Non-Profit youth and adult fishing tournament trail. The program was started in 2015 to provide a competitive venue for young people and adults who enjoy the sport of bass fishing. BassTactix Alabama is sanctioned by The Bass Federation (TBF). Dinner & A Movie in Southside will be held at Southside Landing from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is free to enter. Food trucks will be on site. The movie being shown is Open Season.

May 4 – 5

The annual Spring Art On The Rocks at Noccalula Falls will start Saturday May 4 at 9 a.m. The event ends each day at 5 p.m. Over 100 vendors will be on site with jewelry, pottery, paintings, carvings and more. Food vendors will also be on site. Entry costs $8 per adult and $6 for children, military members or seniors. Park season passes will be accepted.

Gadsden Gun and Knife Show will be held at the Venue at Coosa Landing located at 201 George Wallace Drive. The event will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $10. Veterans are admitted for $5. For more information, call 423-664-2715.

The Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. at Nichols Memorial Library located at the corner of Dwight and Cabot Avenues in Gadsden. Doug Brannon discuss the number of court houses in DeKalb County. Anyone interested is invited to attend. For additional information, contact Charles Atchley at 256-490-7770.

Join Gadsden’s Nephrology Associates for the 2024 Alabama Kidney Foundation Birmingham Kidney Walk and Celebration at John Carroll High School located at 300 Lakeshore Parkway. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the event ceremony will start at 9:30 a.m. There will be food, music, vendor tables, children’s area and door prizes for top fundraising teams and individuals. The best tee shirt design will also receive a special prize. The mission of the Alabama Kidney Foundation is to serve the kidney patients of Alabama through financial assistance, education and support services. The foundation also provides statewide education to promote organ donation awareness and prevention of kidney disease. Zumba classes will be held Monday nights at 6 p.m. at the Southside Community Center. The cost is $5 a class, but those buying five classes get the sixth class free.

The Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society recently announced the completion of the Clayton Cemetery book, which contains over 350 pages of information on those buried at Clayton Cemetery. Every effort was made to identify those resting in the cemetery. Some buried there may not be included since no official records were kept. Nichols Memorial Library, home of the Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays for anyone interested in family history research.

A history and research group meets on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. The library contains genealogical information and family files from all areas of Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and other states. The library contains a large collection of military records and Native American research records. For more information, email neagslib@comcast.net.
