Conquerors clinch second playoff spot in region

Coosa Christian clinched the second seed in Class 1A, Region 7 with a 42-6 victory over Appalachian on October 14 in Gadsden. Coosa will host a home playoff game for the first time since the 2009 season.
For the Conquerors (4-4, 4-1) against Appalachian, Jai Mostella rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. John David Justus was 8 for 13 in passing for 92 yards and a touchdown and rushed nine times for 48 yards and a TD. Jacoby Tucker had four receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Drake Albury had 10 tackles, including four for a loss, and two sacks.
Dalton McGraw and Clete O’Bryant each had seven tackles, followed by Matthew Wright, Kayden Hill and D.J. Mackey with six each.
Eli Motes and Grayson Malone both had an interception, while McGraw, O’Bryant, Mackey and Thomas Skaggs all had a sack. Malone and Hill each recovered a fumble.
The Conquerors finish out region play this Friday (Oct. 21) at Woodville.
