There may be no victories in West End’s bucket yet for 2012, but coach Randy Hallmark sees definite signs of improvement.

“In a 41-12 loss, it’s hard to say you say good things, but I definitely did,” he said. “We didn’t match up well physically with North Sand [Mountain], but we played better than the score indicated.”

The Patriots opened the game with a nine-plus minute drive, but couldn’t convert a fourth-and-short play near the goal line.

“We’re also giving up too many big plays on defense,” Hallmark said. “We’re giving up big runs and big pass plays. Last week, we gave up a touchdown on the kickoff right after we scored.”

“You can’t do that kind of stuff and expect to win ballgames.”
