Eagles, Conquerors come up short

A last-second field goal attempt by Hokes Bluff came up short last Friday (Oct. 5), sending the host Eagles to a 16-13 loss to Cleburne County in a Class 4A, Region 5 contest.

With the score ties at 13-13 with just under a minute left in the game, Titio Robiero’s 19-yard field goal provided the winning points for the Tigers (2-3, 2-2).

Braydon Hawk rushed for a pair of touchdowns for the Eagles (1-5, 0-4).

Hokes Bluff continues region play on Friday with a visit to Munford.

Coosa Christian lost to Valley Head, 34-7, in a Class 1A, Region 7 game last Friday (Oct. 5) in Gadsden.

Coosa’s lone score came on Austin Mills’ 40-yard touchdown run and Ben Mills’ PAT.

Austin Mills rushed for 98 yards on 19 carries.

Ben Mills completed 4-of-17 passes for 50 yards, while Jonah Mills and Micah Mills each had two catches.

The Conquerors (0-6, 0-6) resume region play on Friday with a visit to Shades Mountain Christian.
