Etowah took a 40-12 halftime lead en route to a 68-38 victory over Jacksonville on Tuesday (Dec. 15) in Attalla.

“We’re finally starting to make our shots,” said Etowah head coach James Graves. “We started the season slowly but have now won three in a row. We start three freshmen, but they are a good bunch of guys and are working hard.”

The Blue Devils scored the games first two buckets and took an 11-4 lead after the first quarter. Etowah exploded in the second quarter, outscoring the visiting Golden Eagles 29-8.

“This is our best game so far,” said Graves. “We handled their press well.”

The Blue Devils increased their lead to 57-25 after three quarters.

Jamin Graham led Etowah (3-5) with 11 points, while Breunta Ackles paced Jacksonville with 13.

“Every player scored and we took care of the ball,” said Graves. “I think every one on our team scored, which is important. Defensively, we played our best game all year.”
