Gaston, West End, Sardis, Glencoe, Ashville come up short

Gaston lost to Class 2A Region 6 rival Cedar Bluff, 28-22, on Friday, Sept. 6 at Gaston.
For the Bulldogs (1-1), Chapman Clay was 8 for 19 in passing for 121 yards and a touchdown. Adonis Jones had four receptions for 45 yards, while Devon Green caught three passes for 77 yards. Conner Humphrey paced the Gaston ground game with four carries for 25 yards.
Jones, Nate Oliver and Keller Skaggs each scored a touchdown. Skaggs also scored on a two-point conversion run.
Gaston hosts Woodland on Friday, Sept. 13 in a non-region game.

West End fell to 0-3 on the season with a 42-0 loss to Class 2A Region 6 rival Falkville on Friday, Sept. 6 in Walnut Grove.
For the Patriots, Dalton Fulmer rushed 18 times for 23 yards, while Eli Williams had two receptions for 20 yards. Fysher Patterson recovered a fumble.
West End continues region play on Friday, Sept. 13 at Susan Moore.

Sardis fell to Arab, 42-7 in Class 5A, Region 8 action on Friday, Sept. 6 at Arab.
The Lions’ lone score came on Luke Martin’s 2-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Martin finished with 35 rushing yards on six carries. Brian Chapman was 12 of 25 in passing for 95 yards and rushed 15 times for 37 yards. Josh Hopper, Brayden Whidden and Cole Lankford each had three receptions.
The Lions host top-ranked Guntersville on Friday, Sept. 13 in region action.

Glencoe dropped to 1-3 on the season with a 35-14 loss to J.B. Pennington on Friday, Sept. 6 at GHS. The Yellow Jackets resume Class 3A Region 6 schedule on Friday, Sept. 13 at Walter Wellborn.

Ashville fell to 0-2 on the season after a 62-8 loss to Anniston on Friday, Sept. 6. The Bulldogs travel to Oneonta on Friday, Sept. 13 for another Class 4A, Region 6 game.
