Glencoe, West End, Gaston, Ashville come up short

A standout performance from senior running back Jake Boggs was not enough to prevent Glencoe’s 55-39 loss to Class 3A Region 6 rival Locust Fork on Friday. Oct. 25.
Boggs (pictured above) finished with 180 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. Also for the Yellow Jackets (2-7, 1-6), Bronner McMurray carried nine times for 80 yards and a touchdown, while Alex Hudson gained 40 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts.
Aiden Johnson was 5 for 14 in passing for 102 yards. Hudson had two receptions for 28 yards.
Cooper Gomez had seven tackles, followed by Johnson with six and McMurray and Jalen Hunter with four each. Jo Jo Bethel forced and recovered a fumble.
Glencoe closes out the season on Friday, Nov. 1 at home against Piedmont.

West End closed out its season with a 34-13 loss to Class 2A Region 7 rival Southeastern, 34-13, on Friday, Oct. 25 in Remlap.
Jaxon Hamby’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Mayo, along with Tyler Graham’s PAT, gave the Patriots (1-9, 0-6) an early lead before the Mustangs scored the next 34 points.
West End drew within 34-13 at the 5:40 mark of the fourth quarter on Hamby’s 27-yard scoring pass to Eli Williams.
Hamby was 8 for 18 in passing for 83 yards. Williams had five receptions for 62 yards, while Jackson Mayo caught two passes for 18 yards. Brayden Mitchell and Tyler Holland each blocked a PAT attempt.

Gaston fell to Sand Rock, 47-8, in the Bulldogs’ final Class 2A Region 7 game of the season.
For Gaston (2-7, 1-5), Kelley Skaggs rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Nate Oliver added 35 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for 30 yards. Chapman Clay was 5 for 13 in passing for 63 yards.
Gaston ends its season on Friday, Nov. 1 at Ider.

Ashville lost to Cherokee County, 49-6, in Class 4A Region 6 action on Friday, Oct. 25 in Centre. The Bulldogs (1-8, 1-6) finish out the season on Friday, Nov. 1 at home against St. Clair County.
