Week 7 Previews and Predictions

South Carolina at Tennessee. If the Volunteers have any chance at making the SEC Tournament, they need at least one win against the Gamecocks this weekend. Tennessee is buried at the bottom of the SEC East standings, while South Carolina is right in the middle of the pack. The Gamecocks are probably in the NCAA Tournament field at this point but need to get back above .500 in league play in the near future. Series prediction: South Carolina 3, Tennessee 0.

Georgia at Auburn. Auburn’s series win over Ole Miss was great for the team’s postseason chances, but the Tigers need to build on that this weekend against Georgia. Neither Auburn nor the Bulldogs are locks to make the SEC Tournament field, and the winner of this series will be in much better shape entering the stretch run of the conference schedule. Series Prediction: Auburn 2, Georgia 1.

Texas A&M at LSU. These two SEC West hea-vyweights finally meet this weekend in Baton Rouge, and these teams have been two of the best in the country. Both squads are probably going to host a regional, and the winner of this series has a great chance at being one of the top overall seeds in the NCAA Tournament. Series prediction: LSU 2, Texas A&M 1.

Missouri at Vanderbilt. The winner of this series could be the leader in the SEC East after this weekend. The Tigers have been one of the biggest surprises in the conference, but this might be their toughest test of the season. The Commodores are the defending national champions and are playing about as well as anyone in the country. Series prediction: Vanderbilt 2, Missouri 1.

Kentucky at Florida. The Gators are in a three-way tie for first in the SEC East, and if they sweep Kentucky this weekend, they potentially will have the best record in the league. Kentucky is right in the middle of the SEC standings and needs to avoid a sweep in Gainesville. Series prediction: Florida 2, Kentucky 1.

Mississippi State at Arkansas. It has been a disappointing season thus far for Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are one of the most storied programs in SEC baseball history, and while they could still turn things around, right now they are in jeopardy of missing both postseason tournaments. Winning a road series at Arkansas would be huge for MSU. Series prediction: Mississippi State 2, Arkansas 1.

Alabama at Ole Miss. Neither the Crimson Tide nor the Rebels are playing particularly well, so both teams desperately need this series. Alabama is only one game ahead of Mississippi State in the SEC standings, while Ole Miss is only one game above .500 overall. Series prediction: Ole Miss 2, Alabama 1.
