The Glencoe girls cross country team had four runners place in the top 10 en route to winning the small schools division at the Wildcat Fall Classic 5K last Saturday (Oct. 15) at White Plains.
Sarah Ponder (pictured above) and Katie Giles finished 1-2 for the Lady Yellow Jackets, with the former notching a time of 21:36.99 out of 60 runners and the latter clocking in at 22:03.84.
Chloe Douglas came in eight at 23:18.37 for Glencoe, while teammate Allie Jo Amos finished ninth at 23:51.26.
Hokes Bluff’s Emma Godfrey placed seventh with a time of 23:12.36.
Four Glencoe runners finished in the top 25 – Jaxson Sizemore at 14th (24:38.67), Elizabeth Harrison at 18th (24:51.17), Allie Willett (22nd, 25:12.20) and McKinley Kay (25th, 25:53.96).
Hokes Bluff and Glencoe finished third and fifth, respectively, in the boys’ race. Bryer Morrison paced the Eagles with a fourth-place time of 17:36. 54, while Conner Cothran was tops for the Yellow Jackets with an eight-place showing of 18:39.44.
Local top 25 performers were Hokes Bluff’s Mason Miller (19:04.31) and Ethan Patterson (19:04.83) in 14th and 15th place, respectively, and Glencoe’s Cason Arther (20:25.64) in 25th place.
