Southside High won its first game of the season and head coach Ben Stewart earned his first victory as the school’s head coach with a 31-7 victory over Lee-Huntsville on Thursday, Sept. 5 in Huntsville.
“This is what we’ve been preaching all along – physicality and execution,” said Stewart. “We finally put a game plan together and did what we had to do to win a football game.”
For the Panthers (1-2), Jamel Boyd rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Jevonte Strong rushed for an 83-yard touchdown.
The Panthers resume Class 6A Region play on Friday, Sept. 13 at home against Fort Payne.
