Southside 40, Fairley (Tenn.) 14

Southside jumped out to a 33-0 lead en route to a 40-14 victory over Fairley (Tenn.) last Friday (Sept. 23) at SHS.

For the Panthers, Beau McConnell rushed for two touchdowns, while Baylon Fry ran for one.

Triston Shaw threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Kenneth Bothwell and another to Gavin Or.

Jacob Simmons kicked a 35-yard field goal.

Southside (4-1, 1-1) resumes Class 6A, Region 7 region play this Friday (Sept. 30) at home against Oxford.

Westbrook 21, White Plains 19

Westbrook Christian won its second game in a row with a 21-19 victory over White Plains in Rainbow City last Friday (Sept. 30).

Trailing by five points midway through the fourth quarters, the Warriors (2-3, 1-2) took the lead for good on Court Coley’s one-yard scoring run with 7:28 remaining. Declan Godfrey converted the PAT.

Garret Kennedy also ran for a touchdown for Westbrook, while Tyler Comeau threw an 85-yard touchdown pass to Blake Young.

Westbrook hosts Collinsville this Friday (Sept. 30) in Class 2A, Region 7 action.

Gaston 25, Ranburne 17

D.J. Pope’s touchdown run with under two minutes remaining in the game pulled Gaston past Ranburne, 25-17, last Friday (Sept. 23) at RHS.

Cameron Peacock and J.D. Pope also scored touchdowns for the Bulldogs (3-3, 2-1).

Gaston resumes Class 2A, Region 7 play this Friday (Sept. 20) at home against Asbury.

West End 27, Pleasant Valley 25

Four touchdowns passes from Payne Stancil sparked West End to a 27-25 victory over Pleasant Valley last Friday (Sept. 23) in Walnut Grove.

Two of Stancil’s TD passes went to Andre Little for 30 and eight yards, respectively. Stancil also tossed scoring passes for Jordan Malin (36 yards) and Dylan Butler (43 yards).

The Patriots (3-3, 1-2) host Class 2A, Region 7 opponent Cold Springs this Friday (Sept. 30).

Victory Christian 41, Coosa Christian 14

Victory Christian spoiled Coosa Christian’s homecoming with a 41-14 win last Friday (Sept. 23) in Gadsden.

VCA raced out to a 34-0 lead before the Conquerors got on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter on a pair of touchdown pass from Jace Mills to Caden Davidson. Seongsoo Park kicked both extra points.

Dartavious Britton rushed for 109 yards on 15 carries for Coosa, while Mills ran 19 times for 80 yards.

Mills completed 5-of-16 passes for 85 yards. Davidson had three receptions for 81 yards.

Park finished with 11 tackles, followed by Teppei Daisaku with six and Britton and Jackson Justus with five each.
