Pats close out season with win over Appalachian

Hunter Grant closed out his prep football career with a huge night as Class 2A West End rolled to a 48-15 victory over host and Class 1A Appalachian on Thursday (Oct. 29).

The Patriots’ senior quarterback completed 11-of-16 passes for 224 yards and five touchdowns. He added 183 yards rushing on just 12 carries.

Four of Grant’s scoring tosses went to Andre Little, who caught five passes for 109 yards with touchdown receptions of 30, 13, 10 and 44 yards.

Caegan Epperson had a 58-yard reception for Grant’s other score.

ppalachian’s Jasper Hutchens completed 9-of-23 through the air for 172 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but the Patriot defense sacked him four times and held the Eagles to just five rushing yards on 28 carries.

In his second year as head coach, Kyle Davis guided West End to a 6-4 record for the Patriots’ first winning season since 2007.
