Sharpe’s big play preserves Southside win over Springville

Spencer Sharpe’s interception in the end zone on the final play of the game sealed Southside’s 13-6 win over Class 6A, Region 6 rival Springville on October 1.
For the Panthers (5-2, 3-1), Everett Grizzard rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Tyler Green gained 53 yards on 15 attempts.
Gauge Nesmith completed 7 of 16 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Cody Roberts had three receptions for 75 yards.
Defensively, Calvin Riddlespur finished with nine tackles and two interceptions, while John Gilbert had seven stops and two sacks. Sharpe (pictured above) and Tytan Rich each had six tackles, followed by Jacob Davis and Ethan Light with four each.
Southside continues region play this Friday (Oct. 8) at home against Fort Payne.
