West End comes up short against Lindsay Lane in first round

Lindsay Lane Christian swept West End, 11-1 and 11-6, in the first round of the Class 2A state baseball playoffs on Thursday, April 20 in Athens.
The No. 1 Lions (24-9) scored for runs in the first and third innings to take control in Game 1.
The Patriots (8-20) drew within 9-6 after six innings in Game 2, but the hosts scored a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
For the series for West End, Triston Chaney went 3-for-5 with a triple, and RBI and a run scored; Tyler Jones went 2-for-6 with a double and two RBI; Thad Pearce went 3-for-7 with two RBI and a run scored; Colby Pierce went 3-for-7 with a run scored; Rock Sainsbury went 3-for-7 and Jaxon Hamby went 2-for-6 with a run scored.
