Senior quarterback Tyler Jones threw two touchdown passes and freshmen safety Jaxon Hamby came up with a pair of turnovers in West End’s 24-0 shutout over Susan Moore on August 26 in Walnut Grove.
Jones’ 51-yard TD pass to Eli Golden opened the scoring in the first quarter. The score remained 7-0 until the fourth quarter, during which Evan Stancil kicked a 32-yard field goal, Jones tossed a 29-yard TD pass to Thad Pearce and Rock Sainsbury ran for 16-yard touchdown.
Jones was 6-14 in passing for 101 yards, while Sainsbury ran 23 times for 107 yards. Hamby recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass. Pearce also had an interception.
The Patriots (2-0) host Pleasant Valley this Friday (Sept. 2) to begin 2A, Region 6 play.
