Lady Jackets buzz past Hokes Bluff

Carleigh Harden lined a two-out single in bottom of sixth to plate the decisive run in Glencoe 5-3 softball win over visiting Hokes Bluff on Tuesday (Mar. 9). 

Skylar Thompson followed Harden’s clutch hit with a double for an insurance run. 

“We got timely hits when we needed them and played hard,” said GHS head coach Billy Talbot. “(Pitcher) Savannah Goodwin stepped up big today for us.”

Goodwin pitched seven strong innings, striking out five and walking two while scattereing10 hits.

The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on hits by Sydney Ball and Jessie Nunnally. 

Glencoe tied the game in the bottom of the third on three hits and a walk. Thompson delivered the RBI single to tie the score at 1-1.

The Lady Yellow Jackets took a 3-1 lead in the fifth by way of four hits and a couple of fielding errors. Goodwin and Grace Gough each had RBI singles in the inning. 

Hokes Bluff tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the sixth on a double by Ball and RBI singles by Nunnally and Mallery Carrol.

Thompson went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
