Gadsden City, Ashville come up short

Gadsden City remained winless on the season following a 24-14 Class 7A, Region 7 loss to Huntsville in the Titans’ homecoming last Friday (Oct. 25).
Respective touchdown runs by Trey Blount and C.J. Miller (pictured above) in the first half gave GCHS 14-7 lead, but the Panthers (5-4, 2-4) scored 18 unanswered points the rest of the way.
For the Titans, DeMarcus Macon was 15 of 30 in passing for 140 yards, while Jaquan Woods caught had seven receptions for 43 yards. Defensively, Zion Kirby intercepted two passes.
Gadsden City (0-8, 0-6) looks to notch its first win of the season at home this Friday (Oct. 25) against region rival Grissom.
Ashville fell to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in Region play after a 50-20 loss to Class 4A, Region 6 rival Cleburne County last Friday (Oct. 18) at AHS.
For the Bulldogs, Dylan Harris completed 8 of 15 passes for 8 yards and a touchdown, while Luke Harris rushed 17 times for 49 yards.
Nathan Phillips had eight tackles, followed by Luke Harris, DeAndre Woods, Cole Hyatt and Clay Keller with six each. Phillips also had two interceptions.
