Sparked by a standout pitching performance John David Justus, Coosa Christian posted a 3-0 shutout over Cedar Bluff on Monday, March 21 in Gadsden. In six innings, Justus limited the Tigers to three hits and three walks while striking out 13. He helped his cause with a double and an RBI. Dylan Edwards and Bradon Hammonds each had a hit and a run scored.

Sardis pounded out 14 hits on the way to an 18-0 shutout of Crossville in five innings on Monday, March 21. For the Lions, Brody Samples went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored; Trey Thornton and Case Martin each went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; Carson Gillian went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored; and Spencer Maroney had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored. In four innings, winning pitcher Russ Wiggs struck out six while allowing one hit and one walk.

Trey Frachiseur limited Scottsboro to five hits, one run and two walks in Southside’s 4-1 victory on Saturday, March 19. Frachiseur struck out eight in six innings. Dre’sen Champagne (pictured above) and Drew McBurnett each had a hit and a run scored for the Panthers. Also on March 19, Southside lost to Central-Florence, 3-2. Toren Snow went 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Ashville lost to Ider, 12-5 on Saturday, March 19. For the Bulldogs, Dylan Harris went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Cole Hyatt went 3- for-3 with two runs scored.

Briggs Freeman had a pair of hits and four RBI in Etowah’s 9-0 shutout of Southside on March 17 in Attalla. Also for the Blue Devils, Hunter Humphries went 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored; Andrew Pierce had a hit and two runs scored; and Caleb Smith, Caleb Freeman, Trace Thompson, Blaze Gerhart and Jameson Scissom each had a hit and a run scored. Caleb Freeman and Ben Lovell combined for the shutout. In four innings, Freeman allowed two hits and one walk while fanning four. Lovell allowed one hit and three walks while striking out three. Dre’sen Champagne, Corbin Driskell and Tucker Pearce each had a hit for the Panthers.
