Gadsden State runners start off at JSU Foothills

The Gadsden State cross country teams started the season with a solid performance at the Jacksonville State Foothills Invitational at Choccolocco Park in Oxford.
The men and women ran a 5K and 4K course, respectively.
Joran Clark paced the Lady Cardinals with a time of 18:15.40, followed by Mallory Rich at
19:43.77, Lacey Rich at 19:48.93, Chloe Davidson at 20:10.71, Camryn Bell at 20:18.24,
Gabrielle More at 20:25.66 and Keira Johnson at 21:28.02.
Ashton Vann (pictured above) finished first for the GSCC men at 18:22.43, followed by Justin Dempsey at 19:38.54, Javier Soto at 19:43.29, Jaylon Rivers at 20:07.57, Jose Benitez at
20:09.25 and Yael Lucas at 22:16.55.
A pair of local runners helped the JSU men to a fourth-place finish among 18 teams. 2021 Hokes Bluff graduate Sam Green clocked in at 17:18, while 2022 Gadsden City graduate Tanner Rice finished at 17:14.16.
