Fifth-ranked West End goes 3-0 at round robin

West End outscored the competition 42-3 at a round robin tournament held last Saturday (April 1) in Walnut Grove.
The Class 2A No. 5 Lady Patriots (16-5) opened with a 15-0 win over Coosa Christian in three innings, followed by a 16-0 shutout of Talladega County Central in three innings and an 11-3 victory over Class 4A No. 7 Corner in five innings.
Against Coosa for West End, Emma Finch went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored; Peyton Hall went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored; Bella Falkner had three RBI and two runs scored; Daieigha Wheeler went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored; Brayley King (pictured above at left) went 2-for-2 with and RBI and two runs scored; Josie Bunch went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Liddy Falkner had a hit, two RBI and a run scored. Bunch and King combined for three scoreless innings with one hit and one walk.
Against TCC, Bunch went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBI and two runs scored; Hall went 2-for-2 with two RBI and three runs scored; Wheeler had two RBI and two runs scored and Liddy Falkner had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Against Corner, Finch went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored; Liddy Falkner went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored; King went 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored; Wheeler went 2-for-4 with a run scored; Bunch had an RBI double and two runs scored and Bella Falkner had a two-RBI single and a run scored. Hall earned the win in three innings, allowing no hits, no runs and no walks while striking out three.
