Area gridders recognized in AHSAA Prep Football Spotlight

Several local football players were recognized in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Prep Spotlight for the Week of Sept. 29.

Southside senior running back Mason Teague (pictured above) rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries in the Panthers’ 48-45 overtime win over Boaz. It was the fifth time this season that Teague topped the 200-yard rushing mark.
Southside junior quarterback Jordan Bryan was 9 of 12 in passing for 209 yards and three scores in the Panthers’ 48-45 overtime win over Boaz.
Southside senior receiver Cayden McMichael caught seven passes for 174 yards in the Panthers’ 48-45 overtime win over Boaz.
West End senior running back Rock Sainsbury finished with 172 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots a 27-13 win over Sand Rock.
Glencoe senior quarterback Brady Kitchens was 10 for 14 in passing for 215 yards and two touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets’ 49-18 victory over Holly Pond.
Glencoe junior running back Aaron Mann rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in the Yellow Jackets’ 49-18 victory over Holly Pond.
Glencoe junior receiver Connor Montgomery had four receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets’ 49-18 victory over Holly Pond.

Sardis senior running back Blaze Gerhart rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 24-14 win over A.P. Brewer.
