My procrastination in getting a 2024 calendar almost got me in the doghouse this past week.
Our calendar stays on the table closest to the refrigerator and is there for everyone to see and for me to keep track of what I need to remember. There are not many things that have to be recorded, but there are enough to overload my memory.
Three weeks ago, my daughter Eva invited me to an art party with her daughters Saylor Rhea and Tyler Kate. When Eva reminded me the night before about the party, I informed her that my husband Alan and I had other plans. Eva made me feel so bad about it that I raced to get everything done and made the trip to Eva’s house in Prattville. I was a little late, but everyone seemed happy.
That incident upset me so much that Alan bought me a new 2024 calendar with big squares. I filled in the activities for this month while Eva filled in activities that I needed to remember for the future. Hopefully, situations such as the above will not happen again, unless I forget to fill in the event or forget to look at the calendar entirely.
Which reminds me – I need to put in the date to take our tax information to George Wallace Senior Center Glencoe while the tax helpers from the Etowah County RSVP are there. We must be there on a Tuesday or Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesdays are exercise days for us at our church in Dadeville, so it will need to be a Friday. We have made it that far in our decision-making process.
Speaking of Fridays, the past two have included grandchildren at our home. They have so much energy. We love watching our children in their role as parents.
I recently started a project, and when I shared my plans, the grands and their parents wished to help out.
Our church has planned a mission trip to Guatemala in April, and this will be our first time participating in an overseas mission. One of the ladies at our church who has been on several such trips she buys little toys for the children at the mission.
I later thought that I might make beaded bracelets and share them with the little girls, with maybe a small Hot Wheels car for the boys. The grandchildren were very excited and got started making bracelets right away.
The trip is on now on my calendar. Improvements need to be made with my scheduling process, and I praise God that Alan got me another calendar. I get nervous before every mission trip, so please pray for our mission trip in April.
