Ashville competes at Oxford meet

Ashville took home five medals, including two by senior Taylor Knight, at the Yellow Jacket Invitational track and field meet on Saturday, March 2 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford.
Knight (pictured above) won the second-place silver medal in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:34.89 and captured the third-place bronze in the 1600-meter run at 5:49.88.
Also winning the silver was Keely Massey in the triple jump at 30-6.5, along with the girls
4×800-meter relay team with a time of 11:02.04. Ryan Matthews came in third in the boys 3200-meter run at 10:36.89.
Several Ashville relay teams posted top 10 finishes. Taking fourth place for the Bulldogs were the boys 4×400 meter relay team of Kanyon White, Maddox Vann, Colby Caswell and Ryan Matthews at 3:43.29, the boys 4×800-meter relay team of Vann, Matthews, Caswell and Drew Gargone at 9:07.24 and the girls 4×400-meter relay team Knight, Presley Blackwell, Evelyn Dole and Ayunna Manning at 4:41.15.
Nate Huckbay came in fifth in the boys pole vault with a throw of 8-6.
Allie Cone had a pair of sixth-place finishes, one in the girls 400-meter dash at 1:05.65 and the other in the girls 800-meter run at 2:40.81. Justin Jones placed sixth in the boys pole vault seven feet and six inches.
Coming in seventh place was Lesleigh Rogers in the girls javelin with a throw of 84 feet even.
Eighth place finishers were Jolie Free in the triple jump at 25-7 and the girls 4×100-meter relay team at 48.43 seconds.
Ninth place efforts came from Coby Caswell in the boys 800-meter run at 2:15.36 and Maddox Vann in the 300-meter hurdles at 45.60 seconds.
Mya Beason finished 10th in both the discus (73-6) and the shot put (28-1).
