Earlene Jones

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Earlene Jones of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the age of 68. We ask that you keep her family and friends in your prayers during this most difficult time.

Earlene Ann Jones was born on October 20, 1956, in Birmingham, Alabama to her parents, Clyde A. Tolbert and Daisy Ann Cunningham Tolbert.

Earlene graduated from Montevallo High School in 1975.  She then went on to attend college at Nunnelley Technical Institute, earning a Clerical degree.

Earlene especially loved watching episodes of western programs and what she called “Saddle-up Saturdays”.  She filled her home with her love for Gospel Music.  She was an avid football and basketball fan.

Earlene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in life.  She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Montevallo, Alabama as a young girl.   In 2011, after moving to Gadsden, Alabama following a serious illness, she became a member of her beloved church, Smiths Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member and attended regularly until the early stages of her illness in 2024.

Earlene had a great heart for people.  She loved children and animals.  She was a giver and donated to numerous charities, mainly on behalf of sick children.

Preceding Earlene in death were her parents,  mother, Daisy Ann Cunningham Tolbert; father, Clyde A. Tolbert; brothers, Shawn Tolbert and Clyde Tolbert, and nephew, Brandon Miller.

Earlene Ann Jones, also known as “Doll”, passed away at Gadsden Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, following an extensive battle with lung cancer.  She was 68 years old.

Remaining to cherish Earlene’s memory are her long-time companion, Mr. Albert Jenkins;  her children, Jason Everett Tolbert, Ryan Nicole Jones, and Robin Ann Dukes; sisters, Patricia (Henry) Granger of Gadsden, Alabama, Crystal (Thaddeus) Roberts of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sondra LaShay Tolbert of Gadsden, Alabama;  brothers, Frank (Beth) Tolbert of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Stephen (Sheila) Tolbert, Sr. of Delavan, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jason, Danielle, Marlo (MJ), Glenda, Malachi and Ja’meeceyah; nieces, Raechell (Dezmond) Fowler, Haley Ann Tolbert, Megan LeeAnn Roberts; nephews, Alfred (Taquita) Hall, III, Chad A.
