Highlighting her support for economic development legislation, ethics measures, and bills that preserve conservative beliefs and principles, Republican State Rep. Becky Nordgren (R- Gadsden) announced she will be a candidate for re-election during the upcoming 2014 campaign cycle.

“Creating jobs, bringing honesty and integrity to state government, and blocking Barack Obama’s liberal policies from being enacted on the state level have been among my top priorities during my service in the Alabama House,” Nordgren said.

“Since taking over the Legislature four years ago, Republicans have put Alabama firmly on the right track, and I’ll help ensure we keep moving in the right direction if my friends and neighbors across the district allow me to continue serving them in Montgomery.”

Elected to the House in 2010, Nordgren currently serves on the House Health Committee, the State Government Committee and the Senior and Child Advocacy Committee.

House Speaker Mike Hubbard also appointed her to a position on the Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on Medicaid Policy, which is working to find efficiencies and save taxpayer dollars in the state/federal healthcare agency that comprises the largest portion of the General Fund budget.

She is a member of the Autism Council and Women in Government and serves on the board of the Etowah County Summer Enrichment Program.

Nordgren is also a member of the Etowah County Republican Executive Committee and the Etowah County Republican Women’s Association.

Currently employed at Fuller Medical Company, she owned and operated Clear Images Advertising Agency for a decade prior.  A marketing major at Auburn University, Nordgren continued her education at the University of Alabama.

Nordgren and her husband, Eric, have been married for 24 years and have three children, Eric Jr., Miles and Millie.  They are members of Gadsden Church of Christ.
