Gadsden City High School senior pitcher John Hill signed a baseball scholarship with Shelton State Community College (Tuscaloosa) on Jan. 20 during a ceremony at GCHS.

The Titan batted .330 during his junior campaign with 21 RBIs, seven doubles and a pair of home runs, but his skills on the mound earned him the scholarship.

“John’s fastball floats around 90 mph,” Shelton skipper Bobby Sprowl said. “He has a great changeup to compliment the fastball. If he continues to improve and develop speed and movement on his fastball, he should have alot of success as a pitcher.”

Hill will be the ace on the Titans’ pitching staff this spring and will continue to bat third or fourth.
