Orlando Walker scored a pair of touchdowns – a 5-yard run in the first quarter and an 18-yard run in the third – to lead Northridge to a 16-14 victory over Etowah on Friday (Aug. 22) in the Blue Devils’ season opener in Tuscaloosa.

Paul Ruiz had touchdowns runs of 28 and 61 yards to give Etowah a 14-9 advantage at the half. Ruiz finished with 155 yards rushing on 15 carries.

The Jaguars came up with a safety near the end of the second quarter after a 43-yard punt pushed the Blue Devils back to their own 7-yard line. Northridge’s defense kept Etowah cornered, coming up with the safety on fourth down.
