American Family Care (AFC), the second largest privately owned operator of urgent care and accessible primary care facilities in the country, is expanding its signature brand of quality health care with a new center opening on December 22nd in Gadsden. The Open House and Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for January 15th at 11 am.
With more people than ever with health insurance, the demand for health care continues to increase across the nation. The new AFC urgent care center in Gadsden, located at 366 East Meighan Boulevard, will offer convenient, state-of-the-art treatment.
“We’re excited to offer folks in the Gadsden area the opportunity to get further access to quality health care at our new clinic,” says Dr. Bruce Irwin, founder and CEO of American Family Care. “AFC was founded in Alabama and we are thrilled about our expansion in the state, providing another way for us to serve area residents, saving them time and money.”
All AFC clinics are designed, equipped, and staffed to provide accessible primary care, urgent care, minor emergency treatment and occupational medicine. They use a high-tech, high touch approach, with digital x-rays, on-site lab testing, state of the art diagnostics, and electronic medical records. The clinics are staffed by kind, caring and compassionate health care professionals. The clinics are open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and no appointments are necessary.
The clinics were founded by Irwin in Hoover, Ala., in 1982. Over the past 32 years, the company has expanded its footprint from a handful of clinics in Alabama to over 50 clinics in several states, including Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. In 2013, AFC acquired Doctors Express, the largest national urgent care franchise creating AFC/Doctors Express brands across the country. By the end of this year, AFC/DRX will operate more than 160 facilities in 26 states and will serve more than one million patients.
