On Monday, August 2, teachers at Walnut Park Elementary School received the gift of supplies for the classrooms.

Anna Dobbins started A.N. Battles Charity, otherwise known as ABC Charity in honor of her grandmother, who loved children and taught Bible school for years. The aim of the charity is to provide teachers with supplies, so they aren’t forced to buy the supplies out of pocket.

The teachers appreciate the help from the charity, and Dobbins in particular.

“She’s our little supply angel,” said Walnut Park Elementary kindergarten teacher Angie Ramey.

The project started with one teacher and grew to entire elementary schools. This is the third year she has bought supplies for the school.

Although the charity has grown, it is still small, and Dobbins pays for most of the supplies herself and with the help of family.

This year, despite buying en masse while supplies were on sale, the cost was around $1,000.

Dobbins recently graduated from Auburn University with a French and Art History degree. She will be attending Georgia State University on a full academic scholarship with an assistantship. She is working towards a Master’s degree in art history. She is hoping to become a professor and fulfill her dream of teaching.

“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher,” said Dobbins.
