Ain’t it nifty? Shakespeare’s 450 and the party is set for April 24, 25 at the Pitman

Get culture at a quick-step on April 24 and 25 as CharACTers and Downtown Gadsden Inc. celebrate the birthday of the Bard by staging The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).

The performance will feature all 37 plays in 97 minutes, directed by Cody Carlton, starring Jason Bozeman, Brian Boozer and Jason St. John. It is described as “an irreverent, fast-paced romp” and it was London’s longest-running comedy – staged for nine years in London’s West End at the Criterion Theatre. You are invited to join these madcap men in tights as they weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s works, all for only $4.50 – a price inspired by this 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth.

The event will be held at the Pitman Theatre on April 24 and April 25 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the DGI office at 635 Broad Street, The University of Alabama Gadsden Center at 121 North 1st Street or at the door.  All proceeds will go towards continued renovations at the Pitman. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; theatre-goers are invited to bring their dinner and a cooler for an evening full of fun and laughter.
