Seven local players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for first round of the state football playoffs on Nov. 4.
One of two quarterbacks chosen for the Alabama All-Stars, Etowah senior quarterback Daulton Hyatt completed 11-of-14 passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 44-27 Class 5A playoff win over Mae Jemison.
Gadsden City senior running back Damon Williams rushed for 191 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries in the Titans’ 15-7 Class 7A win over Mountain Brook.
Etowah junior running back Cory Thomas rushed 19 times for 154 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Devils’ 44-27 win over Mae Jemison.
Hokes Bluff junior quarterback Landon Johnson was 8-of-10 passing for 193 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another in the Eagles’ 24-8 victory over Haleyville.
Gadsden City junior kicker Johnathan Kilgo kicked field goals of 21, 32 and 46 yards in the Titans’ 15-7 playoff win at Mountain Brook.
Etowah senior receiver Andy Noles had four catches for 161 yards and three touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 44-27 win over Mae Jemison.
Etowah junior kicker Raul Hernandez kicked a 45-yard field goal and was 5-for-6 in extra points in the Blue Devils’ 44-27 win over Mae Jemison.
