Boys basketball roundup: Sardis, Etowah post wins

Eli Morton’s double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds helped Sardis defeat Class 5A Area ? rival Boaz, 71-59, on Dec. 8. The Lions (9-1, 2-0) led 18-16 after one period, 42-27 at halftime and 52-42 after three quarters. Kason Moore added 14 points and four rebounds for Sardis, while Carson Gillilan contributed nine points and five rebounds, while Luke Martin chipped in nine points and four boards.

Sardis rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Alexandria, 76-62, on Dec. 5. The Lions (8-1) trailed 16 to 10 after one period and 37-24 at halftime before taking a 51-49 lead after three quarters. Eli Morton (pictured above at right) and Carson Gillilan  each finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, with Morton adding four assists and three steals. Luke Martin contributed 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Kason Moore chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Four Etowah players scored in double figures in the Blue Devils’ 64-52 victory over Southside on Dec. 1. Jameson Scissum finished with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds while coming up with four steals and blocking two shots. Marquan Mahone collected 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Jacob Turner scored 12 points. Jalien Walker netted 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Cito Williams cleared eight boards. For the Panthers, Cayden Reason had 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Cayden McMichael scored 12 points, followed by Reid Robinson with nine. Mason Stephens grabbed 10 rebounds.

Sardis posted a 62-20 win over Crossville on Dec. 2 in Sardis City. The Lions led 18-2 after one period, 24-7 at halftime and 49-16 after three quarters. For Sardis (7-1), Eli Morton had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists; Lucas Montgomery had nine points and three rebounds; Jacob Bozarth had eight points and five rebounds; Andrew Felter had eight points, five rebounds and three steals; and Cade Holcomb had eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
