DAR announces essay contest winners

On February 4, the James Gadsden Chapter of the DAR presented awards to the winners of their essay contest. The theme was “Patriots of the American Revolution.” The contest was for local high school students. Each winner received a certificate and a monetary award. First place also received a medal.

Winners were:

First place: Kendall Michaels, Gaston High School. Kendall also came in third place with the Alabama State DAR.

Second place: Holly Davenport, Hokes Bluff High School.

Third Place: Ryan Garrod, Gaston High School.

The James Gadsden Chapter meets the first Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church on Rainbow Drive.
