Is there one particular action that draws you quickly into the presence of God? For me, it is worship! I love worshiping the Father, and worship music ministers to me when I need a “pick me up” or need to be encouraged in my faith.
Certain worship songs that the Lord uses to minister to me are often placed on “repeat” on my phone or in my car. I would like to share with you the lyrics of one of those songs, which was released a few months ago. The name of the song is “Holy Forever,” written by Chris Tomlin, Brian Johnson, Jason Ingram, Jenn Johnson and Phil Wickham. This song can be found on Chris Tomlin’s newest album, Always, which was released last month. It is an incredible album, and I encourage everyone to check it out. Here are the lyrics of this song:
Holy Forever
“A thousand generations falling down in worship,
To sing the song of ages to the Lamb,
And all who’ve gone before us and all who will believe Will sing the song of ages to the Lamb,
Your name is the highest, Your name is the greatest, Your name stands above them all,
All thrones and dominions, All powers and positions, Your name stands above them all,
And the angels cry, Holy, All creation cries, Holy, You are lifted high, Holy, Holy forever,
If you’ve been forgiven and if you’ve been redeemed, Sing the song forever to the Lamb,
If you walk in freedom and if you bear His name, Sing the song forever to the Lamb,
We’ll sing the song forever and amen.
And the angels cry, Holy, All creation cries, Holy, You are lifted high, Holy, Holy forever,
Hear your people sing, Holy, To the King of Kings, Holy, You will always be, Holy, Holy forever,
Your name is the highest, Your name is the greatest, our name stands above them all,
All thrones and dominions, All powers and positions, Your name stands above them all,
Jesus, Your name is the highest, Your name is the greatest, Your name stands above them all,
All thrones and dominions, All powers and positions, Your name stands above them all,
And the angels cry, Holy, All creation cries, Holy, You are lifted high, Holy, Holy forever,
Hear your people sing, Holy, To the King of Kings, Holy is the Lord, You will always be,
Holy Holy forever, You will always be, Holy, Holy forever.”
This song only confirms what Scripture has already said about our God. I encourage you today to read these Scriptures aloud and take some time to reflect and ponder the holiness of our God!
Revelation 15:4 says, “Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
Revelation 4:8 says,“ And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’”
Exodus 15:11 says, “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”
Isaiah 6:3 says, “And one called to another and said, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!’”
1 Samuel 2:2 says, “There is none holy like the Lord; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”
Lord, we worship You today, for You alone are holy, the One and only true God! We know our minds are not able to grasp the entire meaning of Your holiness, but please open our eyes more to Your holiness and may we never take Your holiness lightly. We join today with your Word in Revelation to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
