Gadsden State Singers receive, appreciate community support

The Gadsden State Singers delight in providing entertainment for many events throughout the year including community, civic and college events.  Auditions are held each spring and scholarships are awarded to those chosen as members.

The vocalists are under the direction of J.T. Harrell and their musical numbers are choreographed by Kay Smith-Foster.

“This past year the group dazzled audiences in more than 50 performances and special thanks goes to State Rep. Craig Ford (D-Gadsden) for his continued support and contribution toward the purchase of beautiful costumes for our female members,” said Harrell.

The group consists of 12 Gadsden State students comprised of an equal number of male and female participants.

The performances for the 2012-2013 season culminated in a show that provided entertainment for a meeting of the state Financial Aid Officers of both two- and four-year colleges held at Guntersville State Park.

The singers will begin practicing together this month to fine tune their singing and dancing skills. Their first performance of this season will be the Get on Board activities held in September to welcome students and to officially kick-off fall semester at Gadsden State.  The group will also be performing in the annual Christmas Charity Showcase and Miss Gadsden State Pageant which will be held at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center on Nov. 7 and 8 respectively.
