Gaston, West End, Etowah, Ashville come up short

Gaston fell to Appalachian, 35-0, in the Bulldogs’ home opener on Sept. 1. For Gaston, Nate Oliver rushed eight times for 49 yards. Kodie Bogle led the way defensively with 11 tackles and an interception. Trey Johnson had 9 stops, followed by Kyle Fitts with seven, Keller Skaggs with six and John Ponce with five.
The Bulldogs open their Class 2A Region 6 schedule on Friday, Sept. 8, with a visit to Southeastern.

West End came up short to Susan Moore, 33-6 on Sept. 1 in Snead.
The Patriots’ lone score was Jaxon Hamby’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Josh Carrol midway through the second quarter.
Hamby completed 5 of 12 passes for 43 yards, with Carrol catching two passes for 28 yards. Kane Lawson gained 26 yards on eight carries. Jackson Mayo had an interception on defense.
West End visits Pleasant Valley on Friday, Sept. 8, to open Class 2A Region 6 play.

Etowah fell to Fort Payne, 54-27, on Sept. 1 in Attalla. The Blue Devils (0-2) open Class 4A Region 6 action on Friday, Sept. 8, at Ashville.

Ashville came up short to Lincoln, 40-26, on Sept. 1. Jonathan Beason had 22 carries for 224 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs kick off their Class 4A Region 6 schedule on Friday, Sept. 8 at home against Etowah.
