The Sylvania Rams continued their dominance in Class 3A, Region 6 on Thursday, Oct. 5. as the Ram Train rolled through the Glencoe Yellow Jackets’ nest with a 56-21 victory.
The Rams (5-1,4-0) had two passes intercepted near goal line and a pair of touchdowns called back due to penalties or the score would have been much more lopsided.
Sylvania jumped on the scoreboard when Zack Anderson picked off a Glencoe pass and took it 25 yards to the house with just 27 seconds on the clock. Conner Andrade, who was 8-for-8 in PAT attempts, kicked the extra point, giving the Rams a 7-0 lead.
A 12-yard run by Aiden Parham gave Sylvania a 14-0 lead with 8:19 left in the first quarter.
Glencoe got on the board with 5:51 left in the first when Aaron Mann scampered in from two yards out. Connor Montgomery made the extra point and it was 14-7.
Sylvania scored with 47 seconds left in the opening stanza as Anderson found paydirt on the offensive side with explosive 42-yard run, capping off a three-play, 63-yard drive and making the score 21-7 at the end of the quarter.
The Rams then scored 21 unanswered points en route to a 42-7 halftime lead. The first was on a 55-yard punt return by Anderson, followed by a three-yard run by Parham, and a one-yard touchdown run by Seth Ledford.
Both teams scored two touchdowns in the second half, making the final score 56-21.
Glencoe had a 22-yard touchdown pass with 4:07 left in the third that the Rams matched on their next drive when Noah McKeehan scored from eight yards out, making the score 49-14 at the end of three quarters.
