HEARING

The Etowah County Commission is applying to the Alabama Department of Transportation for an administrative, operating and capital assistance grant under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Laws, as codified. The operating grant will provide financial assistance for public transportation service for the residents of Etowah County during FY 2015.  The service currently operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; all residents, including wheelchair users, must schedule service 24 hours in advance.  Fares are $6.00 per round trip; children under 5 rides free.  

The capital grant will also provide financial assistance to purchase three wheelchair lift-equipped light transit vehicles for the Etowah County  public transportation service during FY 2015. 

Copies of the detailed service description, proposed changes, and project budget may be obtained at the transit system office,800 forrest ave ste 215 gadsden ,AL 35901  between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

A public hearing will be held on Sept  12 at 9am in the room 215  at the Etowah County Courthouse  for public comment.
