Masters sharp in Eagles’ win over Plainview

Hokes Bluff scored one touchdown in each quarter en route to a 28-0 victory over Class 3A, Region 6 rival Plainview on September 30.
The Eagles’ third straight win put them in a three-team tie for second place in the region standings. It was Hokes Bluff’s first shutout since Week 6 of last season.
For the Eagles, Conner Masters was a perfect 9-for-9 in passing for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Cole Stone had three receptions for 56 yards and a score, while Anderson Morgan and Alex Carter each caught two passes. Morgan also had two interceptions on defense.
Noah Sprayberry finished with 65 rushing yards on 16 carries.
Masters’ first TD pass was for 18 yards to Noah Sprayberry at 7:30 of the first quarter.
Four seconds into the second period, Masters and Stone hooked up for a 27-yard score and a 14-0 halftime lead.
Masters and Morgan connected for a 37-yard TD pass on the first possession of the second half.
Sprayberry capped the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
Stone finished with four tackles, while Coleman McGinnis had an interception. Leon Chen was 4-for-4 on extra points.
Hokes Bluff continues region play this Friday (Oct. 7) at Ohatchee.
