A group of nurses at Riverview Regional Medical Center is rallying together once again to support those affected by disaster.
The “Bedtime Backpacks” drive was organized two years ago by Jean Scott after the devastating tornadoes of April 27, 2011. The program is now providing disaster relief to children and teenagers affected by the recent Moore, Oklahoma tornadoes.
“Bedtime Backpacks” accepts backpacks or tote bags filled with pajamas, gowns, underwear, panties, diapers (2T and under), toothbrushes, toothpaste, small hairbrushes, stuffed animals, and small books. Other age appropriate items can be added to the bags as well.
Children and teenagers affected by natural disasters will often live in shelters with little or nothing left from their former lives. These backpacks offer a sense of hope.
The heartfelt donations collected thus far from the staff at Riverview, their families, and the community have been more than anyone could have imagined.
The main donation drop-off sight is located at Riverview Regional Medical Center in the front lobby or at the second floor nurses’ station.
