Smokin’ performing 50th anniversary event Aug. 17

Fans of the band Smokin’ should be getting excited for a 50th anniversary event on Saturday, August 17 at the Pitman Theater in Gadsden.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6 p.m.

The group will perform music from the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s, including songs from artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crowe, John Mellencamp, Aretha Franklin, Beatles and the Rollin’ Stones and.

Band members Darden ‘Bud’ Bourne, Calvin Frost, Bill Gore, Terry ‘Tad’ Williams and Liz Wood will take to the stage to celebrate their 50th anniversary and perform nostalgic music. Frost, Williams and Wood are from Gadsden, Gore is from Fairhope and Bourne is from Houston, Texas. The rock and roll band’s last performance in Gadsden drew a crowd near 300. An attendance of 400 is expected in next Saturday.

Smokin’ is available for private parties and events by messaging the band’s Facebook page.

Coolers and food are welcome at the event and individual seating is $20.
