The Southside Public Library, along with libraries across the country, is gearing up for summer reading.

This summer, the library will host the reading program on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the Southside Community Center.

On June 6, the program will be American Pop Artist with Michael Albert, the program on June 13 will be a ventriloquist, June 20 will be the Southside City Fun Day and June 27 will be a visit to the Anniston Museum. An exception to the Tuesday meetings will be Thursday, July 6 when the Science Lady visits to put on the dynamic education presentation.

The summer reading program finale will be July 11. To celebrate the successful completion of the program, the library will host a pizza dance party. Children who reach their reading goal and turn in their reading log will receive a goodie bag.

To complete the program, children must attend at least two summer reading performances, read 12 books and turn in a completed reading log by July 6.

Registration for the summer reading program began on May 25.
