Yellow Jackets, Blue Devils, Lions fall in first round of baseball playoffs

Glencoe lost to Piedmont, 14-4 and 11-4, on Friday (Apr. 18) in the first round of the Class 3A state baseball playoffs. 

For the Yellow Jackets (14-10) in game 2, Andrew Willis went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Taylor Daugherty went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. 

Will Parker and Dalton Roberts each had a hit and a run scored, while Jeff Ford and Pace Ozmint both had a hit. 

Etowah fell to Arab, 6-2, on Saturday (Apr. 18) in the deciding game of a best-of-three series in the first round of the Class 5A state baseball playoffs at Arab.

In Friday’s doubleheader, the Blue Devils (22-14) lost the opener, 6-4, before posting a 7-1 victory in game 2. 

Sardis was swept by Alexandria, 5-0 and 11-2, in the first round of the Class 4A state baseball playoffs on Saturday (Apr. 19) at AHS.

Jesse Holland had a hit and Austin Hallmark scored a run for the Lions (19-17).
