Bargain Hunt opened yesterday on October 15. The store is the fifth one of its kind to be opened in Alabama.

Bargain Hunt is located in the old Hobby Lobby location at 401 George Wallace Drive. The store has 21,700 square feet of sales space.

As the name suggests, the store offers “bargains.” Bargain Hunt makes deals with online retailers and big box stores to get overstocked or discontinued products cheap. The stores pass the savings on to the customer. This results in customers getting quality items for a low price.

“They see the same value for a fraction of the price here,” said Albert Samuels, Bargain Hunt’s marketing director. “I’m always surprised by what we have here.”

Bargain Hunt offers apparel, bed and bath accessories, home decor, small kitchen appliances and more. The business even has electronics like tablets and televisions, which go through testing to make sure they work properly before the bargain store sells the products. For Christmas, the store is expanding its toy selection.

Bargain Hunt also offers a discount program that is based on how long it has been at the store. The Best Bargains Discount Program drops an item’s price by 10 percent after it has been in the store for a month. The price drops another 10 percent every additional 10 days. The item can reach up to 90 percent off the original price, which is already a bargain.

Bargain Hunt’s headquarters are located in LaVergne, Tennessee. The store is located in six states, including Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky and Indiana. The Gadsden location is only the fifth store in Alabama but is the 38th store of the chain. The store was originally an online wholesaler. The first store location was opened by Essex Technology Group, Inc. in 2004.
