Eagles, Yellow Jackets, Titans, Blue Devils move on in area tournaments

Hokes Bluff advanced to the Class 3A Area 12 Tournament championship game with a 49-33 victory over Ohatchee on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Hokes Bluff. For the Eagles, Colby Smith finished with 14 points and three steals; Jordan Presley (pictured above) had 10 points, five assists and four rebounds; Anderson Morgan had eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals and John Clark Wetzel scored six points. In the other semifinal, Glencoe posted a 61-49 win over Westbrook Christian. Hokes Bluff and Glencoe will play for the area title on Thursday, February 9 at 6 p.m.

Gadsden City beat Fort Payne, 63-59, in the semifinal of the Class 6A Area 13 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at GCHS. The Titans face Oxford int the championship game on Friday, Feb. 10.

Etowah defeated Ashville, 75-39, in the semifinals of the Class 4A, Area 11 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 in Attalla. The Blue Devils will face Hanceville in the championship game on Friday, Feb. 10.

Sardis lost to Boaz, 54-47, in the semifinals of the Class 4A, Area 11 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Douglas.

Gaston fell to Sand Rock, 75-62, in the semifinals of the Class 2A, Area 12 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Sand Rock.

West End lost to Holly Pond, 57-31, in the semifinals of the Class 2A Area 13 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Holly Pond.

Coosa Christian lost to Gaylesville, 47-36, in the opening round of the Class 1A, Area 12 Tournament on Monday, Feb. 6 at Spring Garden.
