John Huffman, who has worked at Gadsden Regional for four decades, has been named the hospital’s Employee of the Year.
Huffman, who began his tenure with the hospital in 1973, is employed as a dispatcher/patient transporter with Imaging Services. He coordinates workflow for the transport service, as well as work schedules and daily assignments for the department.
Huffman’s coworkers have nothing but positive words to say about him.
“John is dependable and I know he’ll get the job done,” said one. Another said “John is dedicated, courteous and good at what he does!” “You couldn’t ask for a better person,” said yet another.
A submission to Community Health Systems, GRMC’s parent company, mentioned Huffman’s tireless dedication to those he serves- patients.
During difficult times with multiple employees absent, Huffman has worked double shifts “without complaint and with a big smile on his face.” When asked why, Huffman responded: “The job still had to be done. People are sick and have to be taken care of.”
Huffman will be honored by CHS in March during an an all-expenses paid weekend of festivities in Nashville, Tenn.
A native of Gadsden, Huffman and his wife, Desiree, have four children.
