The Etowah Community Food Bank and Jay Pruitt of the National Association of Letter Carriers is conducting its annual food drive all day Saturday, May 9.

Your city letter carriers and some rural carriers will be working with the Etowah Community Food Bank and United Way of Etowah County to make this day the largest one day food drive in the history of Etowah County. All citizens served by the Gadsden, Alabama City and East Gadsden Post Offices are urged to place non-perishable food items beside their mailbox tomorrow for their letter carrier to pick up.

All food collected will be used by needy families right here in Etowah County. This is the fourteenth year that the letter carriers have collected food for local citizens. This year the goal is to collect 25,000 pounds of food locally and 40,000 pounds for the area. Only with your help can we succeed.

Food items that will be helpful are canned goods, canned meats, canned vegetables, peanut butter, rice, oatmeal, canned soups or any non perishable item that could help make a healthy meal.
