Alabama Tourism Department hosts the statewide April Walking Tour
Each year in April, the Alabama Tourism Department hosts the statewide April Walking Tours, which give tourists a free chance to learn historical and interesting facts about Alabama towns. This year, Gadsden joins once again as a participating city.
In the 2025 April Walking Tours, more than 3,300 people participated with 31 towns across the state hosting the tours.
Greater Gadsden Area Tourism, partnered with the Alabama Tourism Department April Walking Tours, will offer free walking tours hosted by a local town resident. The hour-long tours start at 10 a.m. each Saturday on April 4, 11, 18 and 25. This event is sponsored by Greater Gadsden Area Tourism and there is no cost to participate.
Interested patrons should arrive at the back of the Visitors Information Center, located in the Downtown Civic Center at 623 Broad St. Gadsden, AL 35901 by 9:45 a.m. Park and meet at the rear of the building, which is accessible via North 6th St.
Walking tours will head East down Broad Street promptly at 10 a.m. Please dress in casual, weather-appropriate clothing with comfortable shoes, and feel free to bring your own water. Restroom stops will be available during the walking tour. Tours will continue in a light drizzle but will be cancelled if there is a downpour.
